The book was published on the occasion of the third anniversary of beatification of the blessed martyr Pavol Peter Gojdič OSMB, the Diocesan Bishop of Prešov and the first anniversary of beatification of the blessed martyr ThDr. Vasiľ Hopko, the Bishop Assistant of Prešov.
The book by Doc. ThDr. Vojtech Boháč, PhD. and Peter Solej Jr. makes the readers familiar with the individual elements of Byzantine liturgy and also contains several particularities from the Prešov eparchy and the Košice Apostolic exarchate.
The content of the book, which is divided into seven chapters, is comprised of textual and visual information about the history of the Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia, Greek Catholic hierarchy, God’s temple, eastern iconography of the cathedral, garments, individual items of exceptionally beautiful Byzantine-Slavic rite effecting all human senses as well as liturgical chants of the Catholic Church.
The book Liturgical Items of Greek Catholics in Slovakia contains addresses by all three Greek Catholic Bishops active in Slovakia and the summary in five languages.
Presentation of the book
The official presentation of the book took place on 11 November 2004 in the 250 year old Greek Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Prešov and the Greek Catholic Bishop’s Palace in Prešov.

The ceremonial presentation of the book, which is the only specialized monography in its field in Slovakia (just like the previous two publications by Peter Solej), started with the celebration of ceremonial Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom in the Old Church Slavonic.

The church service in the cathedral was lead by His Grace Vladyka Ján Babjak SJ, the Greek Catholic eparch of Prešov. Together with the Vladyka, the mass was co-celebrated by His Grace Vladyka Milan Chautur, the Greek Catholic Apostolic Exarch and Vladyka Ján Eugen Kočiš, the Prague Greek Catholic assistant bishop in unison with more than 30 Catholic priests. The celebration of the saint liturgy was accompanies by the Choir of St. Roman Sladkopevec of Prešov Greek Catholic theologists.
