In terms of the content and theme, the fourth book the Slovak Money by Peter Solej is connected to his first publication about the Slovak currency.

The publication contains technical, descriptive and visual information about the Slovak circulatory as well as commemorative coins and banknotes.

In this book, the author describes in detail security features and thus provides the reader with almost all available information concerning the banknote paper and related security features, printing techniques, banknote graphics, color used for the printing and counterfeit banknotes.

The book contains relatively extensive information on the history of money focusing particularly on Slovakia. In the book, Peter Solej writes about the National Bank of Slovakia and does not leave out the information on the competition for the most beautiful commemorative coin of the 10 years old history of the Slovak Republic.

In addition to the summary in four world languages, the book contains a valuable contribution by Mr Marián Tkáč, who informs the reader as to how the “Slovak money was being created.”

Presentation of the book

The official presentation of the book took place on 12 April 2005 in the restaurant Steam§Coffee of the Carlton Hotel in Bratislava.

Peter Solej connected the presentation with the celebration of his 18th birthday and the award of the first four Honorary Memberships in the NAPS civic association.

The sale of the book started by a symbolic sprinkling with champagne by Mr Christian Suppanz, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HVB Bank Slovakia, a.s.

A reception, where the guests could buy the book for a symbolic price, was a part of the official presentation. Money from the sale of the book was used for the activities of the NAPS civic association.

The book was brought to life also by the former President of the Slovak Republic, His Excellency Mr Michal Kováč together with the member of the Slovak Parliament, Mr Robert Kaliňák and several representatives of the Slovak banking sector and personalities of the Slovak cultural and social life.

At the presentation of the book connected with celebrations of his 18th birthday, Peter Solej gave a bouquet of 18 roses to his parents, Mrs. Eva and Mr. Ivan Solej.

It has become a tradition that at the presentation of his books Peter Solej together with the “god parents” cuts the cake in the shape of the published book

Interesting fact:

In February 2006, the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered the books to embassies of Slovakia in order to potentially promote the country abroad.
